ADRIÀ COMELLA I CARNICÉ
Director

Dr. Adrià Comella, a graduate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Lleida and Master of Business Administration (MBA 2001) for ESADE, has been the director of the Catalan Health Service (Servei Català de la Salut) (2018-2021) during the pandemic. He has also been president of the Catalan Institute of Health, president of the System of Medical Emergencies of Catalonia and president of the Permanent Commission of the Health Consortium of Barcelona during the same period.

He has developed his career in the fields of strategy consulting, marketing and commercial management, general management and university training, both in the private and public sectors. He has been general secretary and member of the Technical Council of the Government of the Generalitat, between 2016 and 2017 he led the planning and execution of the closure of the model prison in Barcelona.

 

XÈNIA ACEBES ROLDAN
Healthcare Director
She obtained her medical degree from Universitat de Barcelona and undertook her specialization program (MIR) in ophthalmology in Bellvitge. Later, she obtained a master’s degree from ESADE in Integrated Healthcare Services Management, and she studied a technical engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering at the UOC open university. She obtained her doctorate from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2010 and later obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from ESADE.

She was the director of the patient-care department of the Catalan Health Service until November 2021, where she was responsible for macromanagement tasks in insurance of the coverage of the services included in the public health care portfolio of the Catalan government, together with the design and organization of care processes with a comprehensive, integrating and value-centered outlook, in order to include strategies to ensure quality, safety, and efficacy in the use of drugs and their pharmaceutical administration. Prior to this appointment, she was the medical director at Hospital de Mollet. In 2018, she began the process of merging the health care consortia of Alt Penedès and El Garraf, and as patient-care director, she led the project to plan the merger and integration of clinical services.

She began her career in management in 2012, first as medical coordinator (Director of Hospital Operations) at Bellvitge University Hospital and then as deputy medical director. During this time, she worked as the head of admissions and patient management, in charge of admissions to the emergency department, planning bed capacity, scheduling elective surgeries, and planning outpatient consultations. She took part in transdisciplinary and multidisciplinary plans to coordinate and improve patient access in a tertiary hospital by coordinating different levels of primary and specialist care.

 

ALFONS TORREGO FERNÁNDEZ
Medical Director

Specialist physician in Pneumology. Final Residency Award in 2000. He has worked at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ??at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, and since January 2006 he has been a staff physician at the Pneumology and Allergy Service at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, lately as Clinician Chief of the Bronchoscopy and Pleural Procedures Unit.

He was a visiting tutor from 2009 to 2019, and has taken part in several hospital committees, of which it should be highlighted the Presidency of the New Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologies Committee. In addition, he was elected president of the Board of Directors of the Faculty Body of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, from 2014 to 2016.

In the pneumology field, his healthcare work has been developed in the areas of interventional pulmonology, severe asthma and lung cancer, and he has been a pioneer in the introduction of bronchoscopic techniques such as lung cryobiopsy, bronchial thermoplasty or bronchial electromagnetic navigation. He was awarded Young Pneumologist of the Year by the Spanish Society of Pneumology (SEPAR). He has been coordinator of the Bronchoscopy Working Group of the Catalan Society of Pneumology (SOCAP, for its Catalan acronym), as well as president of the SEPAR Scientific Committee and is currently the coordinator of the Techniques and Transplantation Area of this society.
 

MARIA LACUEVA I ABAD
Nursing Director

Diploma in Nursing from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), graduated in Intensive Nursing from the UAB, postgraduate in Nursing at the Cardiology patients from the UAB and master's degree in Health Centers and Services Management from the University of Barcelona (UB). Practice in Neurological Programming.

Teaching collaborator at the Nursing Master of Advanced Cures to patients with cardiovascular problems of the EUI of Sant Pau.

MARIA MONTSERRAT VINTRÓ I FELIU
Economic and Financer Director

Degree in Economics and Business Studies, specializing in General Economy, from Universitat de Barcelona (UB). She completed her education with a postgraduate course in Economy and Management of Autonomous-Region and Local Taxation Authorities at UB, and another in Stock Market Analysis Techniques at EADA, as well as other additional financial training.

She has extensive experience in the economic sphere, particularly in the Catalan autonomous government, where she has worked for more than 30 years, with responsibilities over finances and budgets of different departments: Department of Labor, Department of Governance/Interior, Department of the President’s Office, Department of Economy and Finance, Department of Enterprise and Employment, Department of Justice, Department of Enterprise and Labor.

In 2020, she joined the Catalan Health Service as Economic Director (2020-2021), where she worked for almost two years. In late 2021, she returned as coordinator of Integrated Programs of the Department of Enterprise and Labor of the Catalan government, from where she joined our hospital as Economic and Financial Director.

 

NACHO NIETO GARCÍA
Director of Information Systems and Management

Technical Engineering Degree in Management Informatics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with Vocational Training in Electricity, and Image and Sound. He also has additional broader training, focused mainly on information and communication systems and on programming.

His function consists of designing and facilitating the development of patientcare and clinical processes via information systems, providing digital and information tools to improve patient care, and taking part in research projects to improve patientcare and clinical practice.

He has extensive experience in the health care sector, particularly within the Catalan Institute of Health, where he has worked since 2002. For 5 years, he was Head of Projects at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, overseeing the operation and maintenance of the hospital’s computer systems. In the same hospital, he was also Head of the Systems and Communications Department for 2 years and, later, deputy director of IT for 11 years.

In 2015, he became IT Systems Director of Southern Metropolitan Regional Management of the Catalan Institute of Health, consisting of Bellvitge University Hospital, Hospital de Viladecans, and all the primary care of the Southern Metropolitan Area, and, in 2019, he became IT Systems Coordinator of ICS, from where he joined our hospital as Director of Information Systems and Management.


RUBÈN MORAGUES I PASTOR
General Services Director

Qualified as an Industrial Technical Engineer at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has a Master in Climatization and Refrigeration (UPC). Postgraduate Degree in Building Installations. 

He has been the Project Manager on various engineering projects. He began working with Sant Pau as a manager on the construction of the new Hospital. In 2008, he was appointed Deputy Director of Project Management and, in 2010, he also became the Deputy Director of Engineering and Maintenance.

 

ANNA BUISAN ÁLVAREZ
Head of the Users and Community Area

Graduate in Business Administration and Management from the University of Barcelona, postgraduate in Cultural Management from idEC, with a professional career in marketing, branding, communication and user experience since 2008.

Held positions of responsibility in institutions such as Foment del Treball as Deputy Manager, and Barcelona City Council as Head of Strategic Projects at the Directorate of Communication and Citizen Services. Subsequently managed the marketing departments of 48h Open House BCN and Vall d'Hebron Bcn Hospital Campus.

Her most recent professional venture before joining Hospital Sant Pau was with the Catalan Health Service. There, she was head of Strategy in the Citizenship, Innovation and User Area, overseeing projects in innovation, marketing, communication and citizen care, including the launch of the /Salut brand, applications such as La Meva Salut and the appointment scheduling site CitaSalut.gencat.cat.

 

PATRICIA PESUDO
Head of Strategic Promotion and Transformation

Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and Master of Business Administration (MBA) by ESADE Business School, Ramon Llull University Barcelona. She has been the director of processes and transformation at AQuAS, Quality and Evaluation Agency, BCN, and has previously held different positions of responsibility in the company OHL: As a project manager corporate strategic projects in the Department of International Recruitment; Area Manager at the Department of Enforcement, Colombia. She was also responsible for business development in Sao Paulo, Brazil, bid manager at the Department of recruitment, in Dubai, and project manager at the Department of Enforcement in Barcelona.

 

ANNA RUBIO
Head of the Learning Campus

Graduate in Pedagogy and Audiovisual Communication, she has worked since 1996 in the direction, production and management of digital learning projects for the development of talent in organizations.

With a professional background linked to educational technology from multiple aspects, she began her career as a researcher at the Interactive Media Laboratory of the University of Barcelona, when she began her doctoral thesis (never finished), and she participated in multiple European research projects and at various congresses in the EdTech field.

She has been Coordinator of Educational Content in the publishing world at Planet Actimedia stage in which she conceptualized and produced the educational modules of multimedia encyclopedias.

She has been the head of production and director of innovation at the IL3-UB, and also a training consultant in both company and freelance, stages in which he carried out training projects of magnitude, production of digital resources, and of methodological and technological innovation

She has been assistant to the Secretary General of Justice and the Secretary General for Enterprise and Labor. And she has also been assistant director of the Catalan Health Service during the pandemic era,stages that promoted the development of the necessary network vision for the sustainability of the system and the global vision of organizations through the " impulse of strategic changes and the global impact in the future of organizations.

Professor associated with the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona since 1997, she has taught subjects in the area of educational technology both in the degrees of Pedagogy, teacher training and Audiovisual Communication, and in the official master's degree in teaching and learning with digital technologies.

She is co-author of the books La Universidad en la Nube (Transmedia s.XXI), Organizarse mejor (Graó), La Formació online (Graó) and Pedagogías emergentes (Octaedro).

MARIA CAROL SANJURJO
Head of Social Environment and Governance

After graduating in Political Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), she studied Intercultural Communication at the University of Turku, Finland, and took a DESS in Geopolitics as a postgraduate student at Marne la Vallée University, Sorbonne, Paris, France.

In her professional career, she has worked mainly in international contexts, engaging in European cooperation projects with third countries through programmes like EuropeAid. She has collaborated in educational initiatives related to lifelong learning (LLL), digital skills, micro-credentials and European alliances, as well as participating in projects related to biomedicine, including public health and research, from the FP5 programme to H2020.

She has also worked at the intersection of culture and technology, exploring the hybridisation of the two fields. She has worked at various institutions, both public and private, including the University of Barcelona (UB), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and Hospital Clínic, and has collaborated with private companies (biotech SMEs) as a consultant specialising in the biotechnology sector. Finally, as an external expert hired by the European Commission, she has evaluated research projects in the field of the information and communications technologies (ICT).
 

FELIP CARBAJO PERNAU
Compliance Officer

Bachelor Degree in Law from the Universitat de Barcelona. Lawyer and member of the Bar Association specializing in Administrative Labour Law.

He was previously the Director of Human Resources at the Department of Social Welfare, General Sub-Director of the Civil Service, General Director of the Barcelona Bar Association, and Director of Human Resources at the Hospitals of Bellvitge and Sant Pau.
