Thoracic Surgery
Thymic tumors are rare, and the most common type is thymoma, which grows slowly but is malignant in nature. Their prognosis depends on the degree of invasion and the possibility of complete resection. The scarcity of cases means that clinical experience is limited and scattered, and the available literature is mainly based on retrospective series and single-center data, making it difficult to compare results due to a lack of unified classifications.
At the national level, the Thoracic Surgery Service and the Neuromuscular Pathology Unit, led by Dr. Isabel Illa, have been a reference in the treatment of these tumors and the associated paraneoplastic syndromes, creating the country’s first multidisciplinary thymic tumor committee. As a result of this experience, the Update Course on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Thymic Tumors has been organized, with its 4th edition taking place on October 16 and 17, aimed at all professionals involved in their multidisciplinary care.

Aquest dijous, 16 de maig, les sales polivalents de l’Hospital han acollit una nova edició del Curs monogràfic d’actualització en infecció nosocomial, una formació organitzada per la Unitat de Malalties Infeccioses de Sant Pau, que enguany celebra la seva quinzena edició.
Durant el curs, els assistents han pogut conèixer la situació actual i els reptes de futur de les infeccions nosocomials dins l’àmbit hospitalari amb l’objectiu de formar els professionals sanitaris, perquè puguin oferir als usuaris la millor assistència garantint en tot moment la seva salut i benestar.
L’edició d’enguany, impartida per metges i infermeres de la Unitat de Malalties Infeccioses i membres del Programa de Control d’Infeccioses Nosocomials i Política Antibiòtica (INPA) de Sant Pau, ha comptat també amb la participació del Dr. Miquel Pujol, director del programa VINCat del Servei Català de la Salut.
