Thoracic Surgery
Thymic tumors are rare, and the most common type is thymoma, which grows slowly but is malignant in nature. Their prognosis depends on the degree of invasion and the possibility of complete resection. The scarcity of cases means that clinical experience is limited and scattered, and the available literature is mainly based on retrospective series and single-center data, making it difficult to compare results due to a lack of unified classifications.
At the national level, the Thoracic Surgery Service and the Neuromuscular Pathology Unit, led by Dr. Isabel Illa, have been a reference in the treatment of these tumors and the associated paraneoplastic syndromes, creating the country’s first multidisciplinary thymic tumor committee. As a result of this experience, the Update Course on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Thymic Tumors has been organized, with its 4th edition taking place on October 16 and 17, aimed at all professionals involved in their multidisciplinary care.

Coincidint amb el Dia Mundial de la Salut Mental, avui 10 d’octubre, s’ha fet entrega a Pediatria unes bosses per a nadons i infants ingressats que han preparat els usuaris de la Unitat de Recursos Comunitaris Dr. Pi i Molist URC dins del projecte “Donant Puntades”.
Tres usuaris de l’URC Dr. Pi i Molist que han participat en el projecte han anat a fer entrega dels seus treballs als petits de Sant Pau, acompanyats de la seva educadora social, Vanessa Prados, de la Dra. Pilar Duro i d’Ana Bela Luis Ruiz, cap clínica i coordinadora de l’URC respectivament. Per part de l’Hospital van rebre als artífexs del projecte el director del Servei de Psiquiatria, Dr. Narcís Cardoner i Ismael Parrilla supervisor d’Infermeria de l’Àrea de Salut Mental i Addiccions; la Dra. Elisenda Moliner, coordinadora de la Unitat de Neonats, Alejandra Pérez Retrepo, supervisora de Pediatria, i les doctores Sonia Brió i Gemma Garcia, adjuntes del mateix Servei.
Amb motiu d’aquesta data assenyalada l’URC ha organitzat aquesta setmana tot un seguit d’activitats lúdiques, xerrades, caminades... pels seus usuaris i familiars.
