Thoracic Surgery
Thymic tumors are rare, and the most common type is thymoma, which grows slowly but is malignant in nature. Their prognosis depends on the degree of invasion and the possibility of complete resection. The scarcity of cases means that clinical experience is limited and scattered, and the available literature is mainly based on retrospective series and single-center data, making it difficult to compare results due to a lack of unified classifications.
At the national level, the Thoracic Surgery Service and the Neuromuscular Pathology Unit, led by Dr. Isabel Illa, have been a reference in the treatment of these tumors and the associated paraneoplastic syndromes, creating the country’s first multidisciplinary thymic tumor committee. As a result of this experience, the Update Course on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Thymic Tumors has been organized, with its 4th edition taking place on October 16 and 17, aimed at all professionals involved in their multidisciplinary care.

El 15 de març de 2024 tindrà lloc la 45a edició del Curs Intensiu Teòric-pràctic del Bloqueig Nerviós al Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau. Aquesta formació, que dirigeixen professionals del Servei d’Anestesiologia de Sant Pau, se centrarà en l’anestèsia locorregional en cirurgia ambulatòria i cirurgia pediàtrica, i també inclourà tallers pràctics. El curs està acreditat pel Consell Català de Formació Continuada de les Professions Sanitàries i la Comisión de Formación Continuada del Sistema Nacional de Salud. El curs està dirigit per tres professionals del Servei d’Anestesiologia de Sant Pau: el Dr. Sergi Sabaté, director del Servei; la Dra. Mireia Rodríguez, metgessa adjunta i tutora de residents; i el Dr. Adrià Font, metge adjunt. L’objectiu d’aquesta formació és donar resposta a la gran demanda d’especialistes i residents per adquirir o actualitzar temes, tècniques i tractaments en anestèsia locorregional i anestèsia postoperatòria, tant des de la vessant teòrica com pràctica, per millorar la pràctica clínica i establir una xarxa de professionals experts en aquesta matèria.
La 45a edició del Curs Intensiu Teòric-pràctic del Bloqueig Nerviós està avalat pel Campus d’Aprenentatge Sant Pau, l’Institut de Recerca Sant Pau, la Secció Espanyola de la Societat Europea d’Anestèsia Regional (ESRA-ESPAÑA), la Societat Catalana d’Anestesiologia, Reanimació i Terapèutica del Dolor (SCARTD); la Societat Catalana del Dolor (SCD); i el Grup Espanyol de Rehabilitació Multimodal (GERM).
