Thoracic Surgery
Thymic tumors are rare, and the most common type is thymoma, which grows slowly but is malignant in nature. Their prognosis depends on the degree of invasion and the possibility of complete resection. The scarcity of cases means that clinical experience is limited and scattered, and the available literature is mainly based on retrospective series and single-center data, making it difficult to compare results due to a lack of unified classifications.
At the national level, the Thoracic Surgery Service and the Neuromuscular Pathology Unit, led by Dr. Isabel Illa, have been a reference in the treatment of these tumors and the associated paraneoplastic syndromes, creating the country’s first multidisciplinary thymic tumor committee. As a result of this experience, the Update Course on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Thymic Tumors has been organized, with its 4th edition taking place on October 16 and 17, aimed at all professionals involved in their multidisciplinary care.

Com cada any, el Dia Mundial del Delírium té com a objectiu posar en focus en aquesta malaltia, crear consciència al voltant de les grans afectacions que pot tenir en les persones grans i subratllar la importància de la prevenció per poder oferir una millor assistència. Vine i participa a les taules informatives de la Unitat de Geriatria de l’Hospital de Sant Pau.
El proper dimecres 13 de març és el Dia Mundial del Delírium, una jornada que vol subratllar la importància de la conscienciació al voltant d’aquesta malaltia. El Delírium és un deteriorament ràpid de la funció cognitiva caracteritzat per la dificultat en la capacitat de concentració, desorientació, somnolència i/o agitació i ocasionalment també poden aparèixer al·lucinacions i/o ideacions delirants.
Acostuma a desenvolupar-se en poc temps, poden ser hores o dies, i és més freqüent en les persones hospitalitzades, especialment en edats avançades.
L’Hospital de Sant Pau està compromès amb aquest objectiu i per això l’equip professional de la Unitat de Geriatria ha preparat diverses activitats durant el mateix dimecres dirigides a la nostra comunitat d’usuaris i també als/les professionals.
Hi haurà:
6 taules informatives de 9:30 a 13h en format gimcana (musicoteràpia).
Xerrada divulgativa a les 11h.
Tot tindrà lloc al vestíbul de Sant Quintí de Sant Pau.
