The Rheumatology Service actively participates in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of chronic, non-surgical inflammatory diseases that affect the musculoskeletal system, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. In addition, it treats degenerative processes, such as osteoarthritis, and oversees the management of autoimmune diseases, such as lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, Sjögren syndrome and vasculitis, among others.

The Service's professionals work in the outpatient area in close collaboration with other Services at the Hospital for the joint management of comorbid conditions due to chronicity. The Service also has an examination room for performing musculoskeletal and joint ultrasound, crystal analysis with polarized light microscopy and nailfold capillaroscopy.
