For more than 25 years, the Hospital de Sant Pau has had a volunteer programme that aims to improve the quality of the patients' stay in hospital and the experience of their families by running accompaniment services and offering information and psycho-social support.

The work of the Hospital's Volunteer Service includes various activities:


Welcoming and accompaniment
Through the Volunteer Programme, patients and their relatives are given information, support and orientation when arriving at the Hospital. In addition, volunteers accompany and entertain patients on the hospital wards.

Support mission
They are on hand to listen to patients and relatives with whom they share similar experiences.

Group sessions
They run specific group sessions where patients and relatives can share their experiences.

Complementary therapies
They offer support therapies to patients and their families.

They organize the administrative and management tasks of the Volunteer Service. They schedule the weekly programme of activities of the volunteers and give orientation services to new volunteers.

They help to raise funds and take part in specific campaigns and charity events.

Games room
They oversee the Paediatric Service's games room and toy-lending
