Medical Teaching Unit of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
Inaugurated in 1968, the Medical Department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a public university centre which strives to train doctors with the knowledge, skills and attitudes on health and illness that modern society requires, and to equip them to exercise professionally in accordance with the applicable legislation. It is comprised of five teaching units, one of which is located on the Bellaterra Campus, with the other four at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau, the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, the Hospital del Mar and the Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol.
Escola Universitària d’Infermeria (University Nursing College)
The College was created by the Decree of 4th December 1953 and it began its activities in the 1954/55 academic year, as the Escola d’Ajudants Tècnics Sanitaris (College of Technical Healthcare Assistants). In 1977, it was integrated with the nursing study programmes at the University to become the Escola Universitària d’Infermeria (University Nursing College). Affiliated to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, under Royal Decree 796/1978 of the 17th February, it is owned by the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.
